All of the wall planters are made from stoneware clay, which is a very hard material. They are all fired to 1250 degrees celcius. This  means that the planters will not absorb any moisture and makes them frost-proof.  NB: it is water absorption and the expansion associated with water absorption (such as occurs with the much lower temperature fired terracotta) which is responsible for the majority of damage to garden pots.
